By popular demand from Xsan users, Evo is now available with or without SANmp software! Of course, we'll still include a free 60-day trial of SANmp because we think it's the fastest/easiest way to share a SAN, but if you're already using something else, well, we understand.

If you're already using Xsan, StorNext or metaSAN, you're set. If not, you can test drive SANmp absolutely free and decide what to do in a couple months. Either way, the cost of SAN software is completely avoided or at least deferred.

Performance/Features

Evo v.2 introduces many GUI enhancements and performance increases.

Topping the list of optimizations is a new and highly effective read-ahead engine, which lets you tune each volume specifically for various applications. Using Final Cut Pro, the base Evo supports uncompressed HD video or up to 15 streams of DVCProHD playback from only eight disks. Pro Tools users will also be thrilled -- the eight disk base system alone now supports multiple users doing full track count at any sample rate over Fibre Channel or Ethernet.

What's in the box

The new Evo v.2 base system includes Fibre Channel, iSCSI and NAS, eight SATA disks, four direct-connect Fibre Channel SAN ports and two Ethernet SAN/NAS ports. Four full licenses or free timed licenses of SANmp v.3 volume sharing software (Mac/Windows) are also available.

Up to six workstations and notebooks can attach directly into the base without using a switch.

What's optional

Evo easily expands to accommodate more storage (up to 32 disks), additional users and increased performance. It offers FC and Ethernet port upgrades for direct connection of up to ten computers without a switch. A 10Gb Ethernet option is also available for users who need maximum bandwidth.

Up to ten workstations and notebooks can attach directly into an upgraded Evo without using a switch.
