SNS showcases Audio/Video series of SAN solutions at NAB 2003

Solutions for Video, Audio and Digital Imaging Applications

Las Vegas, Nevada, April 5, 2003 — Studio Network Solutions (SNS) will feature their multi-user, shared-storage solutions at NAB 2003, Booth #SL2636. Each system, offering high levels of storage capacity and reliability and boasting a throughput of up to 400 MB/s, is ideal for any video, audio, or audio-for-video application. This series of pure fibre channel drive systems will immediately enhance the productivity and workflow for facilities working with I/O intensive applications such as Final Cut Pro, Avid, PhotoShop and Fireworks.

“Most high-end audio professionals have heard about or experienced first-hand what the A/V SAN PRO can do in a recording studio,” says Gary Holladay, chief systems designer for SNS. “But because of the tremendous performance and ability to eliminate almost all hard drive and I/O-related PCI bus errors, the A/V SAN PRO also works flawlessly with video and graphics programs. And because our storage solutions can be connected up to several miles away, it’s possible to network multiple buildings via optical cable at speeds up to 2 gb/s. This means, for example, that it is no longer necessary for someone to physically move hard-drives from an editing suite to the producer; a producer can directly access the project files from the A/V SAN PRO shared-storage system easily, and more quickly, than if the files existed on his local hard drive.”

Combining SNS’ new SANmp multi-platform management software makes the A/V SAN PRO an incredibly versatile storage solution. SNS Host Bus Adapters and SANmp support Mac OS 9, OS X, Windows 2000 and XP, so facilities choosing the A/V SAN or A/V SAN PRO can be assured that their storage system is not proprietary to a specific NLE, DAW or digital imaging application. The centralized architecture of the system allows streamlined archival because all project files are accessed and stored on the array. Adding to the configuration possibilities, the A/V SAN PRO can even be connected to a network server and shared over Ethernet if necessary.
