Affordable SAN Sharing Software for iSCSI Users
St. Louis, Missouri, September 10, 2010 – Studio Network Solutions (SNS), a premier provider of post-production storage products for video and audio workgroups, today announced the immediate availability of iSANmp, an “express” version of its popular SANmp SAN sharing software for Mac and Windows.
SANmp SAN sharing software enables multiple users to access the files on a Fibre Channel or iSCSI SAN, enabling everyone to capture, share and edit directly onto a storage system in real-time – improving collaboration and eliminating wasted time copying files. iSANmp is identical to the full version of SANmp, but it is an iSCSI-only version and at $499 it is half the price.
“Lately there’s been more interest than ever in using iSCSI,” states Ryan Stoutenborough, President of Studio Network Solutions. “Companies are opening their wallets with great care and want to be sure they’re squeezing every ounce of value from everything, including their Ethernet networks. We see an incredible amount of post-production happening over iSCSI and GbE, and when you multipath it the results can be positively stunning. We offer our globalSAN iSCSI initiator free to all Mac users, so we’ve naturally had a lot of requests from people who build a high-performance iSCSI SAN, then almost immediately ask how they can inexpensively share it with several users. Now we can give them a great answer.”
SANmp and iSANmp offer the benefits of safely sharing all of the storage on a SAN, but without the administrative complexities of clustered file systems. The software works with native file systems such as HFS+ and NTFS – so application compatibility is assured – and it doesn’t need any metadata network or special servers. It is easily deployed, simple to administer, and can be used with anywhere from two to hundreds of users.
Both versions of SANmp are compatible with most iSCSI or Fibre Channel systems, Final Cut Pro, Avid, Adobe Premiere Pro, Pro Tools, Smoke, and most similar applications for Mac and Windows. The software is free to download and try on an unlimited number of computers by visiting the company’s website at http://www.studionetworksolutions.com.
For more information, visit SNS at IBC 2010 in booth #7J15e (co-exhibiting with Square Box Systems in the UK Pavillion) and in its partners’ locations at booth #13.A30 (Marquise Technologies) and booth #7.B35 (Cintel). Square Box Systems will be demonstrating the workflow benefits of its popular CatDV media asset management software running directly on an EVO shared storage system shared by SANmp. Marquise Technologies and Cintel will be showing EVO and SANmp in a DPX 2K and 4K DataCine workflow.
